Adult/Teen Ballet/Contemporary


Emphasis in class will be on correct body alignment/placement, strength and flexibility, and providing training in the foundations of classical ballet as we also explore the more contemporary melding of ballet with elements of lyrical and modern dance techniques.  Learn ballet to improve your posture, balance, and muscle tone.  Enjoy the graceful movements and classical music that has made ballet an enduring art form, while also enjoying the more "earthier" and natural elements of the art form.  You will be moving with the long grace and lean strength that ballet dancers are know for.  This class currently meets once per week.  As with any physical activity, please consult your doctor for approval.  Attire is  leggings or tights, leotard or fitted t-shirt or tank and ballet slippers, lyrical half-soles, or jazz shoes.  Performance opportunities are available, but not mandatory.

 

Adult/Teen Jazz/Hip-Hop 

                                                                                                                                          

This class incorporates traditional, Broadway, contemporary, and street styles of jazz and hip-hop.  Warm-ups, stretching, center combinations and across the floor combinations to upbeat contemporary music will have you grooving to the high energy beat. This class currently meets once per week.  As with any physical activity, please consult your doctor for approval.  Attire is  leggings or tights, leotard or fitted t-shirt or tank and clean sneakers or jazz shoes.  Performance opportunities are available, but not mandatory. 

 

Adult/Teen Tap

                                                                                                       

This class will have you hoofin' and grooving to the beat using the floor as you drum.   This class will emphasize the development of tap technique from the basics to combinations such as the Shim-Sham, time steps, the Maxi-ford, cramp rolls and more.  This class currently meets once per week.  As with any physical activity, please consult your doctor for approval.  Attire is  leggings or tights, leotard or fitted t-shirt or tank and tap shoes (low-heeled oxford style for beginners).  Performance opportunities are available, but not mandatory.

 

Adult Tap & Rep

                                                                                                                                                                                 

Warm-up, review tap basics, then dance to your hearts content in this performance based tap class.  Enjoy the camaraderie of working and performing together.  This class currently meets once per week.  As with any physical activity, please consult your doctor for approval.  Attire is  leggings or tights, leotard or fitted t-shirt or tank and tap shoes (low-heeled oxford style for beginners recommended, heels may be required for performance for some numbers).

Intro to Dance ages 10+ #6-weeks Course

Dance is Joy. Dance is Love. Dance, at the core of our being, is a celebration of movement and of life.  Dance, ageless and timeless, is for everyone.  Dance basics beginning technique will introduce elements of ballet, jazz, and lyrical.  Perfect for the new color guard or drill team members wanting to improve their dance technique and ability.

 

Ageless Dance Flow #6-Weeks Course

Guaranteed to make you feel and look more youthful!  As we age, we tend to lose mobility.  Moving can become painful. Get greater range of movement, more elasticity in your muscles and freedom of movement in your joints!  Unlock your joints and muscles using the best practices from dance, pilates, and yoga to lengthen and strengthen, while protecting. No forcing, no pain, just gentle lengthening flow of movement using your own body weight and range of movement!

Ageless Dance Flow is a full body workout that starts with a gentle warm-up to loosen, relax, and get the blood flowing.  Then we will start with the upper body to open the shoulders and chest for more range of motion and better posture, working down through the spine to the waist and abdominal for greater support of the lower back, and as a bonus, a trimmer waist!  We will continue to the hips with movements to increase the flow of synovial fluid into the hip joints, working the psoas, groin, hamstrings, and calf muscles for greater range of movement, while strengthening the quads, hamstrings, and knees.  We will finish with special range of movement and strengthening exercises for the feet and hands, ending with gentle relaxation and breathing to rejuvenize and leave you feeling fantastique!

Ageless Dance Flow can be modified for a seated workout and is recommended for any age.  No prior dance training required.  This is a great class start your path into dance, or re-ignite your past love of dance.  Wonderful for anyone with arthritis or other joint or muscle pain.  Start your journey to a more open, free, and comfortable body while looking and feeling your best.  This class is offered twice per week.

As with any physical activity, please consult your doctor for approval.  Please wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement.  It can be done barefoot or with lightweight, supportive athletic shoes.  Please bring a yoga mat for standing exercises and a pillow (optional) for relaxation.
