About Us

Director, Cedar Creek area resident, Leslie Dare, has an extensive  background in dance performance, production, choreography, and instruction.  Trained in Dallas and New York, she earned her BFA in Ballet from Texas Christian University and has danced professionally in New York, Europe, and Texas.

With over 40  years of teaching experience, Ms. Dare has worked with pre-schoolers through senior citizens and taught classes for beginning through professional in ballet, jazz, tap, creative, and modern dance.

In 1990, she founded and directed her own Dallas dance company, Dance Fusion and its affiliated school, Dance Fusion Studios.  In addition to producing and choreographing shows for both the company and the school, she has choreographed for opera, musicals, area drill team, color guard, quinceanera, weddings, and sacred dance groups.

The Dance Connection seeks to enrich the community through dance by fostering an appreciation of dance and the related performing arts and to provide students of all ages with the skills they need to enjoy dance and the arts for a lifetime.  Towards these goals, the studio produced the popular Christmas ballet, “The Nutcracker” in 2003 for their semi-annual holiday show.  Students also have the opportunity to perform at area events and compete in regional and national competitions as well as the much anticipated, and not to be missed, studio recital in June.

Ms Leslie teaches Ballet, Pointe, Creative Dance, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Lyrical/Contemporary, as well as Country Western, Waltz, Salsa, Belly Dance, as well as Ageless Dance Flow.

Ballroom, social dance, and Jazz/Hip-Hop Instructor Jared Blakely

Instructor, Jared Blakely has been hooked on swing dance ever since sneaking away from his Baptist university to a late night lesson in Deep Ellum. He then started kicking it with other swing junkies in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas. Spinning out of control, he joined a "Triple Step Program" in San Antonio, but it's always been one step forward, one step back, rock-step. He has taught lessons for the San Antonio Swing Dance Society and the "Swing Bums" at Trinity University.

Tap Instructor, Deanna Venable,

Deanna and her Tap Ladies is thrilled to be pursuing her love of music and dance by teaching students of all ages at The Dance Connection about how much fun there is in learning to tap.  Recently, Deanna enjoyed performing in the annual Spectacular Senior Follies at the Majestic Theater in Dallas, Texas.  She has worked many years with “A Class Act Tap Company,” honing her skills and performing all over North and East Texas and across the country with the company of tappers, all of whom are young at heart at 50+ years of age!  Deanna’s next project will be to start a performance group similar to “A Class Act” here at Cedar Creek Lake with their own Senior Follies!  Ms. Dee knows that dance can be a joy at any age!
